Country Rd, Jamie Oliver & Federal Budget...

Yesterday, I had lunch at the Country Rd cafe in the city with my manager and colleague. I wish I brought my camera to take a photo - actually I did have that thought, but decided against it at the fact that I would look like a total weirdo! So you'll have to bear with my very brief descriptions!

I ordered a chicken foccacia (sp?) - and whilst it sounds very normal, it was actually very lovely! The chicken was soft, it was shredded, and had some sorta nice mayo, with fresh tomatos, alfa alfa sprouts and spinach, all toasted with a small side of salad with this really yummy creamy dressing. Unfortunately though, the foccacia was quite thin and hence I think it was a little too crunchy. I would have preferred it to be a little thicker to feel the texture of the bread. My colleague ordered the same and had the fresh fruit drink, which was a mixture of passionfruit, pear and some other fruit which I forget. It looked amazing. It's really quite a nice cafe, and prices were reasonable too. Open Mon to Saturday for breakfast and lunch. I also noticed that there was 30% off the dinnerware... hmmm... might take a stroll down during one lunch time.... :)

Jamie Oliver! My favourite british chef! He makes cooking an experience in itself and does cooks and bakes with such enthusiasm, it's totally contagious! I'm one of his fans, and decided that I would like to collect all his books, and hence I do own majority of it :)

This weekend shall be the "Jamie Oliver Weekend" if all goes to plan. I saw this recipe for a Banana and Honey bread which upon calculation takes about 2hours to bake, since you have to let it rest and sit in lots of 30mins. So I think I might kick off the weekend by waking up early on Sat and baking this!

As you have probably noticed, I have been baking lots of sweets these few weeks, so this week I'm going to cook main food. I haven't exactly decided what to cook yet - but perhaps this chicken dish that I've done a few times, which is a total no-brainer, so hence definitely eatible! Or perhaps this other interesting looking chicken dish, and perhaps might try out one of his pastas.... YUMMMY!!! Will let you know how it turns out.

Federal budget came out yesterday - I shall be gettng $10 extra each week - yay, more to put to my cooking adventures! :P I'm still in the process of reading this article about the budget... ahhh... some professional behaviour at last.... :)
